2. Hosting and server log files

When you access this website, information transmitted by your browser is automatically stored in server log files: IP address, date and time of the request, the page requested, the HTTP status code and the user agent. This processing serves to ensure trouble-free operation and security on the basis of Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest). Log data is deleted after 30 days at the latest, unless it is needed to investigate a security incident.

3. Cookies

This website sets one strictly necessary cookie, on the contact page only, plus one that remembers your analytics choice once you have made it. There is no third-party tracking. Analytics (Matomo, see section 7) stays off until you accept it via the consent banner.

PHPSESSID: session cookie protecting the contact form (CSRF protection). Set only on the contact page; deleted when the browser is closed.
analytics_consent: remembers whether you accepted or declined analytics. Set only after you choose; lifetime 1 year.

Local storage

The site uses your browser's local storage (not cookies) to remember your choices. This data never leaves your device.

sidebarCollapsed: whether the sidebar is collapsed or expanded.
cat-*: sidebar category expand/collapse states.
tt_maps_consent: that you chose to show Google Maps (see section 6). Kept until you clear this site's data in your browser, which also withdraws the choice.

4. Tool data processing

Every tool page carries a processing badge so you always know how your input is handled.

Client-side tools run entirely in your browser. No data is sent to any server. The source code is auditable in your browser's developer tools.
Server-side and Network query tools send your input to the server for processing. Input data is not stored, logged or shared beyond what is needed to produce the result.
External API tools query third-party services. Requests are proxied through the server; the external service sees the server's IP address, not yours.

5. Contact form

If you use the contact form, the data you provide (name, email address, subject, message) and your IP address are processed in order to answer your enquiry. The submission is sent by email to the controller. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(a) and (f) GDPR. The data is deleted once your enquiry has been dealt with, unless statutory retention obligations apply.

6. Third parties

Tools that query external APIs do so through the server. The external service only sees the server's IP address, not yours. Only the minimal required data is transmitted (e.g. a domain name for DNS lookup). There are no advertising networks, no social plugins and no profiling. The exceptions to the server in between are the map and the Caller ID Check, described below.

Google Maps

IP Address Lookup, MAC Address Vendor Lookup and TLD Lookup can show a location on Google Maps. Nothing is loaded from Google until you press Show Map. The map then loads directly from Google in your browser, so Google receives your IP address, the location shown (coordinates or an address) and the address of this website, without the page you are on or what you looked up.

Your choice applies to all three tools and is kept in your browser's local storage (tt_maps_consent, see section 3). Clearing this site's data in your browser withdraws it.

Caller ID Check

The Caller ID Check shows the number a phone call arrives with. When you call one of its test numbers, your phone network passes your number, or the fact that it is withheld, to sipgate GmbH, the telephone company that runs those numbers, and sipgate passes it on to this site. The call is rejected as busy and never answered.

Your number is kept in a temporary file on the server only until the page that reserved the test number has shown it, and for no longer than two minutes in any case. It is not logged or stored anywhere else. To limit how often test numbers can be asked for, a keyed hash of your IP address is kept for 15 minutes, never the address itself.

The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR, since the check is what you asked for, and Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR for the limit on requests. sipgate handles the call under its own privacy policy: .

SSL/TLS Server Test

The SSL/TLS Server Test connects to the host you enter. The connection is made by this site's server, so the tested server sees the server's address and not yours. The host name is looked up beforehand through a public DNS resolver (Quad9, or Cloudflare if it does not answer), which therefore sees the name being looked up, again without your address. Where the tested certificate names an OCSP responder, that responder, run by the certificate authority that issued it, is asked whether the certificate has been revoked, and sees the same, again without your address.

The host name and port you test are written to the server log like any other lookup. The result is kept for an hour, so that testing the same host again does not repeat the work; it holds only what the tested server itself sends to anyone who connects. To limit how many tests can be started, a keyed hash of your IP address is kept for 10 minutes, never the address itself.

The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR, since the test is what you asked for, and Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR for the limit on requests.

7. Analytics (Matomo)

This site uses Matomo, an open-source analytics tool hosted on its own infrastructure. Analytics is opt-in: nothing is measured unless you accept via the consent banner.
